The C2PA celebrated its fifth anniversary with over 6,000 members and affiliates now using Content Credentials. The 2.3 specification update adds live video provenance support for broadcast and streaming, plus improvements to creator provenance data. The release follows the Conformance Programme launch in late 2025.

Policy
Following an EU stakeholder consultation that referenced "C2PA TDM Assertions," the coalition issued a statement clarifying that its specification does not contain any assertion related to Text and Data Mining. The clarification addresses confusion around what Content Credentials do and don't cover in the context of AI training opt-outs.

Adoption
As of January 1, 2026, the C2PA Interim Trust List (ITL) has been frozen - no new entries or updates will be made. Products must now go through the official Conformance Programme to receive trusted signing certificates. Existing ITL certificates remain valid for legacy support but will eventually expire.

Camera
Sony has released firmware updates bringing C2PA content credentials to video for the first time. The a9 III, a1 II, FX3, FX30, and PXW-Z300 camcorder now embed digital signatures into video files confirming content was camera-captured. Sony's system also uses 3D depth information for additional verification. Support for a7R V, a7 IV, and a1 is planned for late 2025, with a7S III following in 2026.

Milestone
Google announced that the Pixel 10 series supports C2PA Content Credentials natively in the Pixel Camera app - the first consumer smartphone to do so. Every photo is cryptographically signed using hardware-backed keys in the Titan M2 chip. The Pixel Camera app achieved Assurance Level 2, the highest security rating in the C2PA Conformance Programme. Google Photos on Android also displays Content Credentials.

Adoption
The C2PA soft-launched the Conformance Programme at the Content Authenticity Summit at Cornell Tech. The programme ensures that implementations of Content Credentials are both secure and interoperable - similar to how Bluetooth and Wi-Fi certification work. Google's Pixel 10 was the first device to achieve the highest conformance level.
